Metro Arts Creative Development program supports artists to experiment and develop new multidisciplinary performance projects. Artists receive studio access, funding for artist fees and development expenses, critical dialogue, peer and audience feedback opportunities, and practical producing support to help refine new work.

Natano Fa’anana is a Samoan-Australian director, producer, performer and cultural leader with over 18 years of experience in contemporary performance, community engagement and cultural programming. A visionary arts leader, Natano’s work centres First Nations and Pasifika storytelling across circus, theatre, live art and festival landscapes. He is the Co-Founder and Creative Producer of Casus Creations, Executive Producer at Moogahlin Performing Arts, and Creative Consultant for Junction Arts Festival. Natano has toured award-winning productions across 23 countries, championed emerging First Nations talent, and established new platforms for le Moana voices in the Australian arts sector. Recipient of the Sidney Myer Fellowship (2019) and Churchill Fellowship (2020), Natano continues to lead cross-cultural and interdisciplinary collaborations that fuse artform innovation with deep cultural practice.

Garret Lyon is a proud Darumbal & Wulli-Wulli man born & raised in Rockhampton (Darumbal country), Central Queensland. Garret has been performing his original music extensively throughout Australia and overseas for almost 10 years while working closely with Indigenous communities. Garret was a selected artist to represent Indigenous Australia at World Expo in Dubai, performed on the main stage at Meanjin’s Big Gay Day 2022, produced two shows for First Nations festivals and has also featured in many stage shows including ‘Once On This Island’ (Asaka), ‘The Wiz’ (Lion) & ‘Aladdin’ (Aladdin). Most recently Garret has been starring as the lead role in Hit Productions national tour of ‘The Sunshine Club’ written & directed by Wesley Enoch, was featured on season 12 of ‘The Voice’ where he performed a duet with his idol Jessica Mauboy.
Throughout his career, Garret has worked with prominent industry names such as Bernard Fanning, Troy Cassar-Daley, and Joss Stone. Apart from his performing career, he has been involved in teaching music and dance to youth in Indigenous communities and has demonstrated his commitment to cultural protocol with local communities. In recent years, Garret has been recording new original music and released his R&B/Pop anthem “Circles,” gaining over 30,000 streams on Spotify alone. He plans to continue working on his craft and collaborating with more artists on original works to further advance his status within the industry.
