Tristan Meecham and Lenine Bourke interview Jill Bolen and Brian Day, two LGBTI icons in a discussion about gender, sexuality and discrimination in 1970’s Queensland to the present day and how the LGBTI community can face the impending plebiscite with resilience.
Jill Bolen is the first women (and lesbian) to achieve the ranks of Chief Superintendent in Queensland. Jill’s rise through the ranks of the police force during Joh Bjelke-Petersen’s time in power attests to her own personal resilience. Jill will share her experience of that time.
Brian Day was a founding member of the Brisbane branch of CAMP (Campaign Against Moral Persecution), a member of the Gay Activists Alliance and founding member of Camp Club, the first LGBTI social club all established in Brisbane both in the early 1970s.
