Fields of Decay is a collaborative, experimental physical performance project driven by artists Sophia Remolde (USA) and Leah Shelton (Australia), which aims to digitally visualize the energy fields of human beings in relation to damaged and decaying environmental sites.
The long-term vision for Fields of Decay is to create a body of work that encourages people to see their impact on the environment from a new perspective of interconnectedness and empathic response.
The project’s development will see the artists consult with scientific experts, undertake field tests and site visits, and innovate new technologies. The resulting work will convert scientific data into a series site-specific video, performance, and interactive new media works mapping and creating meaningful engagement with natural landscapes. The works created will provide audiences with a visceral, evocative experience that will allow them to see their environment in a new light and reflect on the ways in which our world is changing.
