In response to the excessive illumination of our cities, Julie Vulcan presents a visual and sensorial passage into the world of darkness and all its richness. The journey into the liminal space between light and dark, the literal shift between our cone and rod cells, attempts to soothe the unease of darkness and explore a space where time is suspended; fear and anxiety are soothed and imagination gives way to a language of new accord.
DARKlight_I: utterings is the first presentation of the multi-faceted artwork WishingDARK. A deep research project interrogating human relationships to darkness via cultural, biological and psychological dimensions.
DARKsnack: an artist talk with a difference
You are invited to join the artist around a table in the midst of the DARKlight installation. Over the course of the hour, Julie will guide a discussion on darkness while simultaneously feeding your mind tidbits to realign your relationship to the dark. Augmenting the experience, guests will be presented with carefully selected snacks and refreshments complimenting the shadowy terrain. DARKsnack is presented in the spirit of inquisitiveness and generosity. It is designed to share the investigative knowledge of arts practitioner and layperson alike with the view to enhance our relationship to the world.
