Sancintya Mohini Simpson is an interdisciplinary artist who examines the complexities of racial and migratory experiences within Australia. Her practice intertwines mediums, fusing traditional and digital platforms to tell stories, and critique contemporary Australian culture and colonisations problematic histories. Through painting, photography, video, performance, prose and sound work she creates conversations surrounding concealed prejudices and stereotype. Informed by her heritage as a biracial First-Generation Australian of Indian-Anglo descent, Simpson works with her community to create platforms for cross-cultural self-representation. Her practice is centered on sharing stories that need to be acknowledged, often focusing on her family, friend’s and own experiences of racism and prejudice.
