SALLIE CAMPBELL

Sallie studied at the Qld Conservatorium of Music which was where she met her bandmates of Tulipan whose achievements include an Aria nomination for their debut album, two European tours, North American Tour and winning Triple J’s Unearthing the World.

Sallie loves composing and has written soundtracks for La ABC TV, TV Show Forlorn Gaze and various short films/documentaries. She has performed and written string arrangements with Grant McLennan, Kate Miller Heidke, The Waifs, Lior, Brian Cadd, Gyan, Katie Noonan, Morning of the Earth, Michael Leunig, Deep Blue Orchestra, Women in Voice, Carita Farrer, Annie Lee (Kransky Sisters) The Red Tree, Cabaret Festival, Kite Theatre Company, QTC productions Grimm Tales (2010), 1001 Nights (2013) and The Gothic Symphony (2010) . She has also supported Missy Higgins, Evermore, Diesel, Deni Hines and Jimmy Barnes to name a few.

Sallie’s most recent composition Nightingale Floor is a 20 minute piece for a string orchestra, which showcases close to 100 string instruments. It is an arts project consisting of the 20 minute piece and 2 stunningly produced videos to raise awareness for unsustainable Palm Oil.

Sallie was violinist and backing vocalist with Kate Miller Heidke 2006-2008, her highlight was performing at the 2007 Aria awards. Her own band Speed of Purple has toured nationally and released their debut album “Beautiful Things” in 2008.

Performances include: Aria Awards, Sydney Opera House, AFI Awards, Falls Festival, Sunrise, Big Day Out, Splendour in the Grass, Livid, Woodford Folk Festival, WOMAD, The Midday Show, Femme Funk Folk Festival (Noumea), North American Folk Alliance, Port Fairy Folk Festival, 6 month residency in Japan, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Gympie Muster and many more..

She currently performs with several original acts The Switch, Kristy Apps and the Shotgun Shirleys, Silver Sircus, Sissybones and Brad Butcher.
