Michael Whittred is a musician and actor who graduated from Southbank Institute of Technology Advanced Diploma (Acting) in 2011. In addition to fronting and song-writing for independent pop- rock outfit The Worriers since 2011, he has continued to work with Thomas Hutchins in creating independent theatrical works with fellow alumni in Leftovers from a Dream (FAST, 2012 and 2high Festival, 2012), Dust Covered Butterfly (FAST, 2013), and Play Dead (2high Festival 2013). The works they have created are intensely explorative of the correlations between imagination, reality and memory; they use the inherently familiar nature of music to create parallel worlds that reflect and attack the stories that are presented within their incisive texts. Michael is a multi- instrumentalist who uses the full range of his skill to make these musical worlds detailed and hauntingly isolated within the work as a whole, providing multiple paths toward the heart of the piece while evoking an emotional response unique to the contexts in which they operate.
