Emma Che is a Brisbane-based independent performing artist. She is interested in what is happening right now and in the things that are affecting her, her peers, the community and this world we live in. Her work is interested in participation and civic engagement. Her practice is slowing down – she is taking longer to create new work, allowing it to sit with the research and wait to arrive to the simplicity of the idea before working on the floor whilst setting herself deadlines. Her process generally starts solo then moves on to collaboration. Her works fuse live performance with available technologies, multimedia, visual imagery, choreographic movement and poetic text.
Emma Che facilitates and manages community engagement projects with performance outcomes. In 2013 she has been researching and working with companies in the USA that specialise in intergenerational arts practice.
