Dan McCabe is a visual artist based between Brisbane and Perth. In 2012 he completed a Bachelor of Fine Art with Class 1 Honours at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. McCabe has been included in a number of solo and group exhibitions, showing at A-CH Gallery, Griffith University Art Gallery (GUAG), John Paynter Gallery, Queensland Centre for Photography, Metro Arts and Ryan Renshaw. In February 2013 he had his second solo exhibition, Photo-drawings, at the Queensland Centre for Photography. In May 2013 he presented new work with Mitchell Donaldson at Metro Arts in an exhibition entitled Seeing Things and again in Double Take, re-presenting and re-curating the previous exhibition with new additions. In October Dan exhibited a large installation work at Ryan Renshaw, his first solo exhibition in a commercial gallery.
McCabe has also exhibited as a finalist in various art competitions including: The Gas: Graduate Art Show at GUAG in both 2011 and 2012; The Churchie National Emerging Art Prize at GUAG in 2013; and the Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award in 2013. In 2014 he will take part in a two month studio residency at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art. McCabe is also a founding member and director of Brisbane based artist-run gallery Addition. Addition presents curated exhibitions with accompanying catalogues and essays, panel discussions and artist talks, and group critique of emerging and established local and national artists.
